Variable Speed Drives (Inverters)

Overview

Inverters / drives are used to give control to an AC, three phase electric motor. The applications are incredibly varied, acceleration, deceleration, flow, pressure, speed, tension and torque can easily be controlled using one of our drives. Our drives are robust, reliable and easy to use. We are specialists in variable speed drives and will recommend the very best drive to suit the application and your budget. Inverters are used to bring about process and quality improvements and to give the control required.
Starting an electric motor using a traditional starter can subject the motor and it's load to unnecessary mechanical stress and to massive electrical surges. Inverters / drives gradually ramp the motor up to operating speed to lessen mechanical and electrical stresses. The outcome is reduced maintenance, reduced repair costs and extended life of the motor and the driven equipment.

Energy Saving

Many motor load applications can save energy when they are operated at variable-speed by means of an inverter. Energy savings are especially pronounced in variable-torque applications (centrifugal fans and pumps). A small reduction in speed gives a large reduction in power consumption. For example, when running at 63% of full speed you will see a 75% reduction in electrical power consumed. With ever increasing energy costs it really makes sense to fit inverters. We carry out free site surveys and provide reports stating the energy you will save and the time it will take to recover the costs.
